Four questions to ask before you agree a price
- What exactly is included, and is 60 minutes pure massage time? Some spas count the foot soak, shower and changing time.
- Are extras included? Sauna, hot stones, private room, drinks and fruit may cost extra.
- Is tax and service included? Ask whether tipping is optional or expected.
- What is the final total? Get it in writing on WhatsApp or Zalo if you can.
Do you tip for a massage in Hanoi?
Tipping isn’t mandatory in Vietnam, but it is common in tourist spas. If you’re happy, VND 50,000–100,000 (US$2–4) for an hour, or up to VND 200,000 for a long premium treatment, is generous. Some social-enterprise spas such as Omamori have a no-tipping policy — respect it. Never let anyone pressure you to tip mid-massage.
