Some of Hanoi’s best-rated massages come from spas built around a social mission. Visually impaired therapists are known for consistent, attentive pressure, and the Red Dao herbal bath brings a centuries-old tradition from the mountains of Sapa to the capital.
Why “blind massage”?
Massage has long been one of the few professions open to visually impaired people in Vietnam. Social enterprises now give them proper training, fair employment and a professional spa setting. Reviewers often mention steady, well-judged pressure and therapists who check in regularly about comfort.
What is a Red Dao herbal bath?
The Red Dao (Dao Đỏ) people of northern Vietnam traditionally bathe in a dark, fragrant decoction of mountain herbs — often ten or more plants, such as Vietnamese balm, cinnamon and wild pepper leaves — to warm up and relax after work in the fields. You soak in a wooden tub for 15–20 minutes, ideally before a massage.
